Dr Emma Dickens

Counselling Psychologist

Dr Dickens is a counselling psychologist who completed a doctorate in psychotherapeutic and counselling psychology at the University of Surrey. She has a wide range of experience, having worked in public, charity and private sectors. She has a keen interest in working with individuals affected by anxiety and stress, low self-esteem and anger issues, as well as more complex mental health conditions such as psychosis and bipolar affective disorder. As a counselling psychologist, Dr Dickens places particular emphasis on offering a warm, non-judgmental and confidential space within which individuals feel heard and understood and have the opportunity to reflect upon their experiences. Dr Dickens has trained in, and adopts, a variety of therapeutic models including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). She is experienced in running psycho-educational and reflective groups, as well as staff workshops, and has worked therapeutically with families, parents and carers of individuals facing distressing mental health experiences.
